Jackie’s Playschool celebrate Jamal’s fourth birthday
The Norwood community celebrates four-year-old Jamal's birthday, turning his difficult start into a heartwarming occasion.
The community came together to celebrate 4-year-old Jamal’s birthday on March 15 at Jackie’s Playschool in Gardens in Norwood.

Jackie van der Westhuizen, who is currently fostering the boy, took him in recently as he had been abandoned by his family.
A call went out for assistance and the community responded with bags of clothes and toys.

Van der Westhuizen, who heads up the Outreach for the Norwood Community Police Forum also fosters another boy child the same age and joined her family last year.
She thanked everyone who contributed to the boy’s birthday. “We are so thankful to each of you for loving our special boy. We are blessed for all the support and knowing we are not alone in this journey.”
