Well, I admit it: I'm a royalist (plus I'm an Anglophile). I think Britain benefits from the royal family, both financially and psychologically. Many tourists from all over the world come to see the palaces etc., people buy memorabilia. The whole nation, or rather most of them, is proud to be British. You will never see this in Germany. Of course we have personalities/achievements/things we can be proud of, and some Germans say "I'm proud to be a German". But I'm sure it's a minority. Many Germans are not interested in their country, its history and traditions (Germany is more than World War II and the holocaust).

Britain has "Trooping the Colours", Horseguards, Royal Weddings... Pomp and Circumstance. I love it!
