Complained about Auto ins phone calls to FCC hotline, and the lady said: "Are you stupid! the ads for auto insurance, are not for auto ins Dumb ass!.. They are scams to get personal info..." I thought it was an auto ins company...

Its pretty clear that dearelliot is a trusting and kind soul, and is therefore a top mark for scammers.

Couple of thoughts, elliot:

If someone calls or e mails and you didn't reach out to them first, and they "need" personal information, tell them to fuck off. Especially if they say they are from a government agency or use the phrase "we're here to help". They aren't.

Your first response to these calls is to ask them who the hell they are, why they are calling you, and who told them to call you. Pay attention to any answers, if not responsive, hang up. But, chances are, when you start asking questions they'll hang up first. Or, you can have some fun, and keep saying "EH?!, WHATS THAT, SPEAK UP SONNY, MY HEARING AID IS DYING!!"

If they need your account number, social security number, password, date of birth, middle name, address or hair color, it's a scam. Guaranteed.
You see, they probably already have this information on you, but want confirmation and want more information.

Under no circumstance do you "click on the tab at the bottom and tell me what it says"

Under no circumstances do you click on the link so you can log into your account and take care of the problem. Even if it looks legit. Especially if it looks legit.

There are no Ethiopian or Ugandan princes wanting to give you money.
You did not win the lottery.
You do not owe the IRS money, they are not going to seize your bank accounts, your cars, your home, or your wife.
The bank is not going to call you and tell you about a windfall they need to put into your account.

Now, Shooter knows this can all be confusing, and it can be hard to believe that there are miscreants out there who would try to take advantage of us old farts, but the sad fact is, there are.
No matter.
Shooter has your back. Just send Shooter all your account information, and passwords, and your personal information, and then just refer all those calls to Shooter. If you want, you can tell them they have to call your son/cousin/brother, who happens to be an FBI agent assigned to computer fraud, he handles all that stuff for you.

There probably more scams in internet advertising and social media “breaking news for seniors in ( insert your state)”. Than there are legitimate ads/notices.

I got a call from 'Amazon' about my new iphone 11 purchase. WHAT?!?!?!?!
I told that fucker I was gonna boils his nuts in peanut oil. hung up, checked Amazon. No such purchase.
Of course he wanted me to call an 800 number he provided.
